The 'research tradition' is the problem in that this tradition liberally
uses dichotomisations without consideration of the properties that come with
the method and the consequence being the confusion of properties of the
method with properties of the things under analysis.
Derek:
I still don't see why you are so fixated on 'dichotomisations'. As far as
genetics goes, I see no reason to believe that geneticists have 'confused
the properties of their method' with the 'properties of the things under
analysis'. Take Mendel's Laws for instance. Like all the best scientific
breakthroughs, they reveal a property of the world which was not previously
apparent. The property was not superimposed on reality by Mendel.
