Maybe I am confused but I don't see why people who wish to rehabilitate
Lamarck get excited over research like this.

I don't want to rehabilitate Lamarck. However, it is exciting research in
its own right because it gives us a clue as to how memetic effects can have
long term consequences at the genetic level (Laland's caveats granted)
