Wow, did he really go all the way and say "self is an illusion" or did he
just dance around that like he usually does? I will have to go dig up my
copy of CE and see for myself. Its been a while since I read it, so I could
wrong. But I just don't think that Dennet ever quite tossed out the
ontological validity of self, though I have known him to do dramatic
reworkings of the epistemology of self, which could lead a few folks to think
that he has. I mean I could be wrong, and I will soon find out if I am when
I locate the book in all my clutter.
