Here is another one to warm your mind for the holidays:

Balkin, J.M. 1998. _Cultural Software: A Theory of Ideology_. Yale
University Press.

This is written on an academic level, and goes into the relationship of
memetics to various other fields. It looks like he wrote virtually all of
it before becoming aware of our journal and other memetics books.
