This is an interesting point. At some point applied memetics and
'academic' memetics need to come to terms with each other.

I don't think there are any PhD's in kick-boxing. This is probably a
feature of funding difficulties rather than interest.

In the advertising world, probably the closest thing to applied memetics,
there are PhD's in 'allied' fields of study, but the linkage is a bit
weak.
