Subject: WARNING: stop making allegations on this list!

Dear fellow memeticists,

I am disturbed to find that the memetics discussion list is becoming
personal with allegations and counter-allegations.

I will consider excluding *anyone* making allegations about anyone else
from this list. The subject of this list is memetics NOT those studying
memetics. You are warned.

This sort of nastiness frequently occurs when people feel they have
ownership rights on an area of knowledge, by virtue of books,
intitutions, web-pages, (even journals!) etc. As a result they become
offended if others make ownership claims and the dispute becomes
personal.

Such feelings of 'ownership' (we all have them) are pure vanity. The
only test of worth is whether the ideas stand the test of time (are
selected for in the *long* run).

Please, be polite. Do not make allegations on this list, and if someone
else does, please ignore them.

Thank you.
