Subject: std's as origin of eros/thanatos seesaw (was sex-death...)

I accidentally deleted the message where someone said that std's are the
reality that causes this dichotomy. That makes alot of sense, and I
wonder if the meme that "living longer means less sex" started with std's
and then evolved into such memes as "no sex and you'll live forever". I
wonder if this predates the knowledge that organisms which have sex must
die ( a regularity in nature ). I'd like to study this sometime, or find
a study that someone has already done, preferably looking at it in terms
of folk beliefs and how they influence culture. My suspicion is that this
hasn't been done yet, but who knows.
