For what it's worth, I'm working from a paper David Hays & I did on the
brain some 15 years ago (& which is available at my website). We were much
influenced by Karl Pribram (neural holography), Warren McCulloch
(motivation & emotion & the concept of mode), William Powers (control
theory), Harry Jerrison (phylogenetic development), Roman Jakobson
(language) & others. I don't think there is any brain model which is so
well established that one can take it for granted.
