I agree with those who call for clear definition of categories.
I suspect that memetic evolution will appear Lamarckian if
the memotype and pheNotype are confused, if
an enormous memome is treated as a single meme, if
mutation and recombination of memes is confused with the acquisition of new
characteristics in a phenotype, and if
selection of memes in populations is confused with "directed" mutation.
